Having built their bunker in 2014 on a foundation of razor-sharp Techno and mood music from the dark side of House, long-standing Pittsburgh club night, promotion team and record label, DETOUR, have spent the past decade pushing plates of expertly-paced dancefloor cuts from the likes of Olin, Doc Sleep and SEER. To inaugurate 10+ years in action, DETOUR is expanding their digital-only repertoire with a second edition, picking up where 2023’s Many Hands Make Light Work by Naeem left off.

Coming of Age is the debut EP from Oscar Celedon, the Santa Marta, Colombia native who has made a name for himself on DETOUR’s home turf slinging Caribbean-influenced rhythms and psychedelic melodic musings via productions and DJ sets aimed at inducing deep groove hypnosis. Across Coming of Age’s four tracks, Oscar paints with the palette of contemporary continental Techno. Sonic elements weave amongst each other to form a minimalist web hung from the high reaches of a cavern sporting 4 corners of massive sound. ‘Nirider’ sets the scene for the long night ahead with deliberate and deftly measured drums underlying a wire-taut synth. ‘Transitions’ send/return dub ethic loops into the nebulous space where Techno and House meet. ‘Pulse’ floods the zone with buzzing pads and a dread sawblade lead while ‘The DJ That Always Carries a USB’ brings the EP to its energetic peak with spiraling surround sound synths and stripped Caribbean drums.
